2008
CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESAN ANNUAL APPEAL

“Two Decades of Nurturing in Stewardship ”

Archbishop Patrick Pinder

Dearly Beloved in Christ

This is the 20th anniversary Catholic Archdiocesan Annual Appeal (CAAA). That is significant. Since its inception, our goal has been to invite as many of the faithful as possible to share the responsibility of funding our local archdiocese.

The emphasis is clearly on our being good stewards of our treasure as we continue to move Onward Together in Faith: Sharing His Gifts.

As you know so well by now, the CAAA has assisted in funding many archdiocesan programs over the years. These include: the Samaritan Ministry; Catholic Teacher’s Endowment Fund; Emmaus Centre; the Benedictine Sisters’ Retirement Fund; our Disaster Relief Fund, and many other programs which benefit our community as a whole. As the years have passed and times have changed so too our goal has changed. We have moved from and annual goal of $225,000 to $402,800 and we hope in the course of time to be able to realize an annual goal of $1M.

Over the last two years in particular you have demonstrated your ability to rise to the challenge of helping to meet the increasing cost of our diocesan programs. What we are doing here is providing for the mission of the church which is to spread the Gospel by word and deed. We are in a very concrete way accomplishing the Corporal Works of Mercy in our community and building the community of faith in a way that gives glory to God.

Once again I express my profound gratitude to all who have been actively engaged and participated in the effort of the CAAA. I encourage you to continue this admirable effort and to invite your like minded fellow parishioners to join you so that our CAAA can grow from strength to strength. I pray that you and your family may receive every grace and blessing throughout this year.

Devotedly yours in Christ,
Most Revered Patrick C. Pinder, STD, CMG
Archbishop of Nassau
